Laura G. Schaefer

Laura G. Schaefer graduated with high honors from the University of California at Berkeley and with high honors and Order of the Coif from the University Of California Hastings College Of Law. Ms. Schaefer is an AV rated attorney who has practiced law for over 35 years. Ms. Schaefer has represented clients in the California Supreme Court, the California Courts of Appeal, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ms. Schaefer practices appellate and post-conviction habeas corpus for individuals convicted of serious felony offenses, including murder, child molest, rape, and fraud. Ms Schaefer also represents clients in civil appeals. Ms. Schaefer has lectured on criminal defense issues at the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice Death Penalty Seminar and other educational seminars for lawyers.

Ms. Schaefer has served multiple years as a Master on the Appellate Inns of Court. She has served as President of the San Diego Criminal Defense Lawyers Club. She has been a member of the Board of Governors for the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice. She was named 2013 Appellate Lawyer of the Year in San Diego by Best Lawyers magazine and 2010 Appellate Lawyer of the Year by the Criminal Defense Bar Association of San Diego.
